Full of imperfections but still pleased with who I have become so far.
We all have a life journey and the only people we ought to be impressing are ourselves and our children. Anyone else should be happy to accept you the way you are.
I say ourselves and our children purely because our children are us - they are impressionable and are more intelligent than what they seem. A child learns from the adults in their life - their Aunts, their Uncles, older siblings, teachers etc. They are what we are - they are what we give to them - not physically give - emotionally - mentally.
Our children don't always qualify as us being the parent - our children can qualify as the next door neighbour's child - our niece - our nephew - the child you spoke to at the corner store. We are the adults and our duty is to teach the children of this world. Give them the best opportunity in life regardless of race, religion, or wealth and leave a lasting impression on them - a positive impression - an impression they can look back upon.
It is just as important to do the same for ourselves. We ought to love ourselves, show ourselves compassion, mercy and strive to do our best in day to day activities. We must remember that we are only human and some days we can't make it to a 100% success rate but we do need to remember that we tried our best and tomorrow will always be there.
This late night ramble will seem pointless when I read it next time I read it - when I'm not tired, though it's true and we do need to be true to ourselves and true to children.
